Sending a message consumes more power than measuring it. Depending on exactly which sensor you have, most batteries will last at least 1-3 years. Do you also develop custom-made sensors Yes, we develop about a dozen custom-made sensors every year. Contact us to discover the possibilities! What communication protocols do you use We mainly use the LoRaWAN protocol, but sometimes also other protocols such as 4G, sigfox and NB-IoT. What is LoRaWAN The LoRaWAN network protocol is based on the LoRa technology developed by Semtech. The Netherlands has a nationwide LoRa IoT network, operated by KPN. In the UK there is no nationwide LoRa network, so at this moment in the UK a gateway is required to use our LoRa sensors. Compared to 5G or Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN is more economical to connect sensors to this network due to lower energy and connection costs. Do I need a gateway to use your sensors A private gateway can be used to create a private network. A gateway is similar to a Wi-Fi access point and has a range of 10 kilometres. Because you have the gateway itself, the data has to travel less distance. Among other things, this is beneficial for your battery life. In the UK a gateway is required to use our LoRa sensors.
